Post by: mickyboy123 on 22 May 2014, 15:57:39
hi chaps, does anyone know of hand if a 2.2 .02 plate has a drain plug on the rear axle or do you have to take the back plate off.  ???

Dif has a fill plug, but not a drain which means plate off. There is a guide iirc.

You might be able to suck most of the oil out using an oil extractor.

You can also drill the casting to convert the bottom backplate bolt into a drain plug, but you need to take the late off first.

That said, unless it's a limited slip, there's no real reason to change the oil.

I used an oil extractor to change my diff oil and afterwards when I filled it back up it took the full 1 litre of oil. So it must of sucked it all out.  :y

The back of the car was jacked up when I extracted the oil, so this may of been why it sucked all the oil out. The car was lowered to the floor when I filled with mew oil.
