Title: Thanks to Kevin Wood. He's fixed the welder.
Post by: chrisgixer on 23 May 2014, 00:39:25
Seems the suspected fault with the speed dial was justified. It was completely de soldered from the circuit board. Although the prongs where still located in the hole. A good twist and the whole thing spun round completely. Ah, yes that busted then ;D

But on re soldering, still no joy. After checking and re soldering a few components he later found a failed resister(?). Oh. I'm thinking, that's stopped play. But no. Up to the magic lair and some more tinkering, and re soldered in a new resistor he had on the shelf. :o

Bolted the board back in. Wahay, speed now varies with the dial, and power switches. :y

Although, he checked the output on the various switch settings, and one of the switches was wired up backwards. Swapped the spade connectors. And Bingo. Kev has fixed the welder.

Thanks Kev. Your a god send.

Ran a few test beads on that 5mm thick steal test piece some of you may have seen, and it worked beautifully. Woohooo. :y

Diode, Chris, not resistor. It's like a turnstyle for the little electrons to go through except someone busted it and they were piling through in both directions ... <sigh!> ::)

'twas a pleasure, and you have a welder that works very nicely there. :y

That's a great explanation of a diode, I like that a lot.

So, Chris, what have you welded to what, so far? It's like having a magic glue gun, you'll go around welding everything to everything... ;D

 ;D

I used to have one of them (previous owners left it here) - horrible thing it was.. made everything damp with condensation. Gave it away to someone who never put it up either - I think it's gone to the great metal recycling yard in the sky now.

Kitchen. Lounge, dining room, bedroom times 4 bathroom times 2.

...actually probably best not to use the bathrooms for welding. Your too long on the bath as it is ;D ;)

Though in my defence, the Lounge is Mrs TB and her bloody pussy!
