I know most of you hate ebay but why oh why do people bid on things (cars)without viewing have sold mine 3 times and still have it,i have bought and in the past viewed many a car on the site and if I like it I bid if I win I buy. Have had my fingers burnt a few times but that's the fun of auction on line or in the real world you win some you loose some .but I always owner my bidding does that make me the mug.

Yep know what you mean, "sold" my motorbike to some idiot, then lost all the other bidders!

Only fell for it once , some bloke said ill have the car if you take it off the auction ... so i did and he turned up with 6 of his mates all picking faults that were never there and trying to barter me down >:( >:( >:( Very intimidating with 7 of them turning up and i wont say what nationality they were but >:( >:(
Best thing to do is make them hit the buy it now and then you can put in a dispute and get your fees refunded :y

went to Scotland to buy a p4 rover (bought of ebay)had over 2 grand of the old folding in me pocket ,now to say that im a cockney would be a bit of a understatement so to be honest felt a bit nervous as when I got there there were 3 of them and they knew that I had cash .Now don't want to offend anyone but we all know how much the scots hate the English and everyone hates us londeners .But they fed and watered me even made a point of asking me to get in touch when I got home ,since then have kept in touch and have invited me and the misses up for a break .Don't know where this is going just thought I mention it and oh yes loved Scotland just need to sort the weather.

have let the auction run its end but it still takes 8 days and at that point other bidders have got something else and as then when relisted it seems that there is something wrong with the car sad thing is it will be going to the scrappie now. Went out in it today and with mates trade plates it did a 400 mile round trip with out missing a beat so its there loss in the end

I have bought and sold cars, boats, jetskis and even holidays on ebay and I like to think I can spot a "muppet" from the way they communicate. If they type in text speak or just launch straight into "how much will you take" etc then they are almost certainly a muppet, if they start the message with a greeting and sign off with their name then I think that is a strong indicator that they are pretty decent.
I have met some great people from ebay, last jet ski I sold on their is now in New Zealand, bought by a guy who flies over twice a year to buy as many 6 berth caravans as he can get hold of, fills them with rolls of loft insulation and loads them into sea freight containers, he then puts in a couple of the two stroke jet ski's to fill the container as all these items sell for a fortune in New Zealand.

They'd sink better if he used rocks, or lead piping...

Yes ive met some decent people off ebay mainly older people though that just tell you like it is and no hidden horrors when you go to buy . But when selling just recently ive been met by quite a few foreign types that bring all the friends and family along just wanting to barter you down .. thoroughly unpleasant experience ! :(
Went to buy one car for a friend and we travelled 120 miles only to see that the car described as mint had been badly resprayed and had had a crash repair >:( They got the hump when we said no we are not buying it and one of them said ok we will get our mates round to sort this out ::) We left sharpish :o

Just sold an ipad. Clearly states "will not post, buyer must collect"
Clearly states there is no reserve, starting bid £150.
At least half a dozen messages asking what the reserve is. Will we sell privately, etc.
It's been on gumtree for a week with no interest. ::)
But I'd did sell. And the first thing the buyer does, is ask if we'll post it. ::)
Numpties.

Put a push bike on ebay. Spares or repair, as one pedal and cranks is missing. Tyres flat. Chain off. Brakes have no cables attached.
Buyer collects.
Sold. First question from the buyer. Where's the nearest station?
2nd question. How can I (the buyer) get it to the station, as apparently the bike is not rideable.
Ffs....

sorry but that's one of my pet hates about ebay, surely your reserve is £150 or else you would start it at 99p.

I sold a ten Kenwoodcd stack system to a guy in Portugal, who appeared to be a nice guy......I quoted him postage and then after that he said that it had to be packed extra well as the parcel couriers and customs were very rough with things over there,,,,,I did this at an extra cost of £7 for which i did not charge him.....He asked me where could the unit be mounted and i said that i had put it in the boot of my Omega to which he replied ..cant do that as my car is so rusty that it leaks water into the boot....So i said to put it in the glove box,,,Anyway the package arrived there and he said he was pleased.........21 days later he stated that his mate fitted it and the stack system was faulty and wanted a partial refund to which i politely said .no....It turns out that the customs had opened the parcel and repacked it after getting the contents wet also the parcel was damaged ( not mentioned on receipt of the unit ) He then left me bad feed back,,the only one i have had in ten years ,,,And also opened a case against me with e bay....i stated my case to ebay and he then dropped the case against me.....Justice at last......oh no ....because his bad feedback remains on my file and e bay will not remove it...So frustrating when you cant talk to a person face to face...makes me angry at idiots like him who e bay allow to get away with it. >:( :( :o ??? ::

The idea is, to try and stop a dozen messages asking what the reserve is. Which is one of my pet hates about ebay, sorry . Surely if buying on ebay, bid and play the game.

If you can't get on well with retards, don't sell stuff on Ebay. It's the only solution. ::)

Indeed. And a value I've held dear for some time. However the house Is filling up with expensive gadgets that are doing nothing but devaluing, and won't sell elsewhere, like gumtree etc.
Speaking of gumtree. ...oh never mind ;D
