Needed a new cooker....
Decided it had to have the following....
50cm width or else i need to start cutting worktops...
Ceramic Hob
Fan Oven
Not bothered about anything else
Found one with the above plus double oven...
Did online search.....couldn't find any online retailer selling it cheaper....some were same price tho...
But this retailer will deliver and take old cooker away for free ..... every online retailer i checked wanted an extra amount ... around £10...to remove old cooker
Ordered it on Friday.....being delivered on Monday (yes, free on a BH!) (could have had it delivered today tho....but didnt want it today)
Who are they......Currys :y

There is a lot to be said for the High Street, and real cash, as opposed to online oppswits. Most of the High Street understand they need to provide customer service, helpful advice, and generally look after anyone who walks in.
Unlike the oppswits that Amazon employ in the Philipines to deal with UK Kindle support.

That isn't always true, TB. A couple of weeks or so ago I went looking for a better broadband deal, and I went into Carphone warehouse high street branch with my "I want to nbuy, not browse" face on - and was ignored by the 6 staff members who were just chatting and joking among themselves.
So obviously as I was invisible, nobody noticed when I walked out.
Exactly the same story at Vodaphone shop next door. Same outcome, too - I voted with my feet!
Phones4U shop nearby? Absolutely the reverse; approached and greeted warmly and so on......

Recently moved main house from London to Wales. The white goods in London were all a bit old and knackered, and the cost of transporting them 235 miles wasn't worth it so we left the lot.
Tried to support local business by looking in small local retailers, but their prices were just sky high. Currys were great, good choice, wide range of prices, delivered when they said, and installed everything. Mind you we spent a fortune all in one go. Dishwasher, Wahsing Machine, tumble drier, fridge/freezer, and dual fuel cooking range. £2400 Including installation and we DID take out the extra warranty thing on SOME items, not all. On the cooker someone comes along once a year and completely cleans it back to "as new" condition ! SWMBO liked that idea.
The question is, has Currys in general got better, or is the branch we dealt with in Wales particularly good ? The service and attitude in most shops down there is generally so much better than in London. :y

Hmmm, yes, that matches my experience with mobile firms, who seem to be a law unto themselves ;D. In their case, they are effectively internet companies with high street presence, rather than the other way round (you take out a contract in-store, its still done via the 'net). But its this kind of attitude (for traditional bricks and mortar) that will help determine which are still here in 5 years.
