Title: Misfire
Post by: Kieran on 27 May 2014, 19:03:57
Hello all
Code reader showed misfire on no2 cylinder. Removed the coil pack and found no2 plug swimming in water. Any ideas what could be causing water to get into the plug well please. Car is 2.6 v6.

Cheers

Standard factory installed scuttle drain... ie passenger wiper spindle drains to the 135 head, and scuttle join drains to 246 head ::)

Re seal as per the guide :y

Remove tother coil pack and you'll find evidence of water there too :y

Thanks. Scuttle cleaned out, actually I removed the stupid rubber drain plug altogether as it was completely blocked and impossible to clean in situ. Reckon it is a bad design fault and better of without it. Changed plug and car running well again. No water on other side.

Cheers

Worth running a bead of sealant into the join between the two scuttle parts, along under the front edge of the scuttle trims and around the wiper spindles to ensure the water drains where it's supposed to and not all over the engine wiring :y
