"only" .. ahem.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VAUXHALL-OMEGA-2-2-DTI-ELITE-ESTATE-GREEN-2002-Spares-or-Repair-/281348041348
Such a shame it needs a new HP pump, which I believe is significantly non trivial? Otherwise I'd be all over that like flies on.. ;D Although maybe not at that price given it's a non-runner!

How much for the pump, Mr Aaron?
-
I'm pretty sure a 'brand new' one is a lot more than the car is for sale for.. but I'm not a diseasel enough person to know what the fix options are; I think I've seen a reman option mentioned here, but I know they require specific kit to retime and so on.

It depends whats failed, the most common issue is the pump electronics which can be reapired for circa 200-250 notes.
The mechanics are usualy pretty bullet proof although I did see one where the internal shaft had failed.
-
Lose the M3 and do it :y
Keep the 3.2 as a van :y
-
Lot of money for a breaker. Handy if you have a spare HP pump tho.which i don't. :(
-
Is that a heat reflective screen? Seems to have that purple tint.

If he accepted £350 it mite be worth having the repairs done for £200 , too good to scrap although i fear it will be . Wouldnt pay 600 notes for it ::)

Could always put a bid in for £100 and then see what happens. :y
£600 is taking the piss. :-\

Put a wanted add up here on oof for a pump :y

If they were that easy to get hold of I'd have repaired my old DTi Elite. :'(
-
I am tempted to put in an offer, I must admit.. even if it only donated body panels to the 3.2! Though the mpg of a DTi does appeal..

Do the 2.2 pumps differ from one's fitted to the Astra G 2.0 DTI or Zafira?

The EDC's are coded to the application.

One offer been put in , was it you aaron ::)
-
Nope, wasn't me.. I've been busy today swearing (sometimes completely openly) at my so-called "colleagues" >:(
I'm still tempted, but suspect I'd fail-to-fix and then be sitting on a £4-500 paperweight (not forgetting a couple of hundred to get it collected) ;)

Buy it, send the fuel pump ecu off for repair and go from there... got to be cheaper than keeping that BMW working :-\

Fixed. :y
I'm guessing the driving experience might be a bit lacking in comparison, though... ::)

Just a little, Kev - though for a while there I was starting to find the M3 less than impressive dynamically; oddly enough a full bore emergency stop (to avoid "doing an Al" up the arris of a Ford Fiesta on the M40) seems to have improved it no end - it feels lighter, more pointy, chuckable. Odd. Anyway..
If I went to the oily side it'd be to replace the 3.2 - although maybe I should strip the 3.2 out, MV6 it and use that as a track toy. It'd be a giggle if nothing else ;D

Fixed :y
In answer to the former, all the loose bushes have probably been reset...
Incidentally, I might have found a solution to the 'victorian' gearchange, which doesn't involve fitting a slush box..but that's for another thread :y
-
I thought if you'd have fixed anything it would have been the "doing an Al" bit.. ;D
Interested in your thoughts on the signalbox gearchange, though :y
-

If he does another "Al" with his new brakes, he really is past help. ;D

Ain't that the truth ;D

Well my £350 offer was rejected and countered with £500.. at that price I think it's too much given recover cost etc. Hmm.
-
Yep too much tell them to take it or leave it :y

I should think that Cameron Diaz's engine is in fine fettle and she'd pump away quite nicely! :D :)

With the added benefit that he'd save money. He wouldn't need a gearbox, for a start. ::)

You know, that doesn't look like a totally awful job.. although I thought you needed special tools to time the pump up?
-
If what ive been reading is correct the 2.2 is fitted with the vp44 pump, its fitted to loads of diesal vehicles.
google is your friend. :)

If it were that simple, the pump would never be an issue...

Still over priced for a bit of scrap metal :D
-
I saw that this morning - thought the start price was a tad optimistic.. I could probably buy my friends perfectly running CDX for not a lot more.

So ... you start it with a screwdriver? ;D

Just noticed the blue interior bits :( Is blue the new colour for interiors this year ;D

You have to consider exactly what the pump electrics do, they are the lookup table for the pump and interface to the basic control elements of the pump.
Bosch make the pump to a 'spec' they then calibrate the pump electronicly and program the cal values into the pump electronics.
Swap the electronics and the pump needs to be recalibrated.#
Hence the module should be considered part of the pump, however, get the electronics ffrom that pump repaired and happy days.
-
My take on it is that unless the car is mint (and is an Elite with every option ticked - leather and sat nav not standard) I wouldn't bother repairing the pump, the car is worthless and potentially a money pit - chasing vac problems, replacing EGR valves and turbos isn't particularly cheap and the car is already 11 years old minimum.
The 2.2DTi is an OK engine (towed our caravan ok) but not a patch on a VAG 1.9TDi in performance and refinement terms. If only we'd had the 2.5DTi over to these shores. :'(
Just my opinion having owned two DTi's, no offence intended.
