Title: brake sensor warning
Post by: babybert23 on 28 May 2014, 21:16:54
Hi all,

Just replaced the discs and pads on my omega and didn't buy the pads with sensors and now have the check light on.

can I short the connection anyway to make the car think the sensor is there

TIA

No pads have the sensors built into the pad, the sensor wires are always separate and clip to the anti rattle butterfly shaped spring. Try as Al says & remove them form the old pads if they're not worn through ...... they're easily broken though

Connecting the two sensor wires together will be fine and extinguish the light. As per the previous posts the sensors should be on the old pads and can be reused if not worn through or broken when trying to remove them. Last time I looked Vauxhall car parts had them at a reasonable price if you wanted to do it properly.

As said, the sensors are not part of the pad. If the reason you changed the old pads is due to the pad warning, then the sensors are no good. If they hadn't been worn through, you can reuse, but they are desperately delicate when used, as they go brittle.

Short wires together if you don't need the warning working, but replacement sensors aren't that dear (even GM ones are only about £7 each on TC).
