£20 from B&Q , its got hooks on it so its now screwed to the shed ;) Looking forward to the first crop :P

Still worth taking down in winter :). The cover goes a bit brittle with the heat/cold cycles, and then the ties detach. Then the wind gets up, and the cover lands in your neighbours garden. Apparently ::)
To add insult, the frame rusts quite quickly in bad weather.
BUT at £15 a pop (or around a fiver for spare cover), who cares if you have to replace it annually ;)

Yeah thats not bad , but think ill move it inside one of the sheds over winter seeing as they rust quite badly as you say :( Off to get some more strawberry and cucumber plants tomorrow . Was going to grow some tomatoes but been advised they can grow too big and need a lot of care :-\

Tomatoes are probably a bit big for those. I always grow mine outside anyway, though a bit late to start now I guess? They are easy to grow, just need daily watering and weekly feeding (Tomorite type feed, but use supermarket own brand as its cheaper and just as good)

Why are most supermarket toms so tasteless?......especially the larger ones.

See how i get on with this years crop then mite expand to a proper greenhouse , they did have a 8ftx6ft for £170 which is not bad . I remember when me dad grew tomatoes and was plagued with black fly , just put a few herb seeds in some pots ..its getting a bit crowded in there already ;D

Several reasons.
The varieties grown commercially are all about size, shape, crop yield, disease resistance and do they travel without getting damaged. Taste comes low down. Also they are harvested before they are ripe. natural ripening in sun helps greatly with flavour. It is quite an eye opener to see the acres of desert land in Almeria that are covered in a sea of plastic greenhouses where plants are grown to produce salad veg for the North European market. Grim, really grim places.

It is the same with Strawberries. My dad has Sovereign plants from pre war stock (takes new runner plants every year). They are divine compared with the garbage supermarkets sell.
In England we used to grow our own tomatoes each year and were pleased with the result. Ditto when we came to Spain. I have to say, I have never tasted better tomatoes than ones we grow here picked when the ambient temp is maybe 35Deg C.

To be fair, it's probably not the only thing you've had to ask to have back from your neighbours... bits of garage roof, tools...

Planted my tomato seeds on 1st of February and the bush variety I grow on in hanging baskets are now in flower so I should start picking them in the first half of July. :) :) The main crop are planted into growbags in the greenhouse and are about 1 foot high with the first truss flowers just forming. The rest will get planted outside, under the eaves of the house as where we live in a tomato blight problem area, there is no point in growing them fully exposed to the elements as blight always wins. :(
Planted sweet and chilli peppers at the same time as the tomatoes, none came up, replanted none came up, go new packs of seed and finally some plants, but I will be very lucky to get any peppers this year as they need a long growing season.
Cucumber plants ready for planting into the grow bags in the greenhouse and I will do this, this weekend. :y :y :y
