Title: Silly girl
Post by: ronnyd on 30 May 2014, 15:10:35
Wife rarely drives now but today went to visit her sister. Back a few mins. later, no drive in auto box, so i got in, shoved
it in drive and drove down street fine. It appears that she put it in N and just rolled down street revving as she went.
Oh how we laughed.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Think yourself lucky she didn't realise as it was bouncing off the rev limiter and shift it into "D" or you'd be in the road sweeping up bits of gearbox. ;)

Ah, thought of one of my own...  ...one day at work, the MV6 wouldn't start, not even turn over. I'd not had it long.

It was in D ::)  :-[

I'm sure there's plenty more but my poor memory hides them, fortunately ;D. I'm the local Village Idiot.

I've recovered lots of automatic 'incidents'; off of assorted road furniture and walls, down banks, and on one memorable occasion out of a swimming pool. Until I started this job I used to think my mother should drive an automatic. Now I'm convinced that would be a very bad idea.

When I was younger I had just finished my first ever night shift, it was winter and was cold damp and dark and my escort refused to start. Ended up having to call 4th emergency service, he couldn't start it either and asked where I was going to. I was of off for a kip, then off to Manchester to visit the girlfriend. He said he would say I was going straight there and  relayed the car. Told me to get some sleep and when I got there to go buy some points for the caras there was no spark.
That's when I remembered about the anti-theft switch I had fitted.   :-[

Still, free trip to Manchester and  got there feeling very refreshed.

I suspect this was an "automatic incident".

swmbo did that a few years ago, called me out of my sick bed to go, armed with battery pack, to Tesco's as she had a flat battery - she realised her mistake as she got in to demonstrate the problem; I didn't know whether to laugh or cry........ ::) ::) ::)

Our local town counsellor  put his Vectra into drive and went into our local Tesco Express ;D. Luckily, for him, the sliding
doors opened in the nick of time so he only destroyed the rack just inside the door. He,s now stopped driving, phew. ;)

On our buses, the ignition and headlamp switches are exactly the same size and shape. Depending on whether Fritz or Kurt built it, affects which one is one which side. More than once I've gone to work at zero-dark-thirty, and started cursing the thing and swearing that I'm going to have to change buses... then realise that I've been gaily flicking the headlights on and off like a demented lighthouse enthusiast.  ::)
