Title: Womwomwom. Is there a Dr in the house?
Post by: chrisgixer on 05 June 2014, 23:32:43
Getting a funny drone on the over run. Like a slightly louder than usual exhaust noise on lift off and pressing the sport button exaggerates it, as the revs go up with the lower gear.

It goes(, ahem).... woomwoomwoomwoom decreasing with revs. It's getting very steadily worse. :(

Increasing revs when dropping a cog wouldn't change the noise though, if it were a wheelbearing.. RPM dependent points to something in the drivetrain prior to the driveshaft. Gearbox, torque convertor, engine...

Aux belt or an idler, maybe.. Can you tell where it comes from (under the car or engine bay) if you stick your head out the window when moving, Chris?

I'm a doctor, but I'm sorry to say that you are beyond help, Mr (not Dr) Gixer. :)

Yup Now I read the thread again  :-[ :-[ ::) could be the box, does it do it when stationary and reving engine if so could be a bearing on the front, when was cam belt done?

Only does it on reverse load. Only does it on a down change. More pronounced as the rev comes down from 6-4k although its there at any revs, sport mode makes it worse as that makes the gear box drop a gear and the revs go up.

Suspect its exhaust noise. Just not sure how. Just a resonance maybe. Like summats loose. :-\

Was hoping to have a look today but will leave it til tomorrow now as the tyre shop got the wrong size in. ::)
