Title: AIRCON
Post by: artsoul_no1 on 07 June 2014, 13:18:52
Just had my aircon done by a company recommended by someone on here.

http://www.ac4cars.co.uk/

He came out a few weeks ago and checked the car over for an hour checking thoroughly for the leak and came back today to fit a new condensor. Not pushy for money, he gave me the invoice and said phone and pay the office. He said he does a few omegas round my way and certainly knew his way round the omega engine bay.

Friendly people as well.

Temp now showing 5.8, just need some hot weather to appreciate it

I use these guys too...

Came round the last week to hopefully just fill up with gas but found a leak in the dryer. He wasn't sure how long it would last but topped it up anyway. Unfortunately A/C failed yesterday on a 150 mile trip home from Norfolk. I'll have to try and plead with them to come and fix it this week :-)

Always an excellent service from them...

If you go through the link there is an affiliate of theirs in Hemel Hempstead, is that far from you? :-\

I'm not sure if it's true or just dealer bullshit, but my Vx dealer told he that if the temperature from the centre vents is 7.5 degrees centigrade or less when on LO then the aircon doesn't need a regas.

When I lasted checked mine, I recorded 5 degrees centigrade when the outside temperature was 28C.

If its cold enough, then its cold enough :)

The only true way to tell if it needs regassing is to measure the weight of gas as you remove it. Which isn't feasible without regassing ;D

True......but it's noisy if left on full blast for a long time. The colder it is, the sooner it cools the car, the less noise there is. :y :y
I'd never describe the aircon in my car as 'icy cold'.....

Mine is not that cold and the car is only two years old. The wife's megane is still ice cold after four years without a regas. People carriers are a funny shape though, the air coming from the vents is cold but it kind of gets lost on the way to you.

Mine's in for a re-gas after I replaced the radiator (yeah-yeah condenser) last week. No angry calls from them yet, so perhaps I haven't botched the job. Should find out shortly - off to collect it now.

Woooohooooo first time I've had an Omega with working Aircon. ;D

'Course I've now got an ATF fluid leak from the front rad seals, and the MID display has packed up, but you can't have everything >:(

Well they came as promised, spent a lot of time trying to cure a leak from around the dryer after replacing it, eventually traced to a cracked pipe at the flange on the connector block, looks like a new condenser  :-[

10/10 for effort as they knew I was going away this weekend but unfortunately were unable to fix it...
