Title: P0100
Post by: iansoutham on 09 June 2014, 06:26:21
Just wondering if anyone else has come across this issue before....

My X20XEV MFL was parked out in the carpark at work all day Friday and when I came back to it she was rather "warm" with the sun being on her for most of the day. Started the car up and the EML came on. Muttered a few obscenities and turned off and back on again. Light stayed off until I pulled away about 20ft then the car jumped a couple of times and the EML came back on.

I was taking it into the workshop at work anyway as I wanted to check the a/c (turns out the HP valve was weeping very slightly in the plastic ball), so parked it on the ramp for an hour and a half in the shade. Left the workshop and the light went out within 30 seconds and has not come on since. Got home and put my Autel EU702 diag tool on and only code is P0100, MASS sensor malfunction (or similar wording).

Sensor just getting too hot maybe?

Could be, but check Maf connections first and also check for any cracked or split inlet hose from the Air filter to the Throttle Body on the 2.0L's and check for any Vacuum pipe leaks.

Had a look at all that already. My first thought was vacuum leak, maybe from a pipe going soft in the heat.

I cleared the code when I got the car home (even though the EML had gone out, it was still showing as Not Present) and it has behaved faultlessly.

Tomorrow is supposed to be another hot day and one of the Techs in work has a recently updated Tech2, so he is bringing that in for me to use for a couple of days and see if flags anything in the heat this week.
