Title: My barge is dead!
Post by: GOLDENREBEEVER on 15 June 2014, 12:24:36
My big blue barge is dead :'( it's been a great car but has failed its MOT and will cost me to much to repair. Any one know how much I can get for scrap?

One tyre, hole in back box, front suspension struts, both front ball joints, back brake pads and emissions! Be easier to say what's not wrong with it. Would do the work myself but no garage space. Washing machine packed up yesterday as well so not a good weekend. Ha.

Still be cheaper to fix it rather than buy another car with hidden problems  :)

If you do decide to scrap it, I wouldn't mind having a chat with you as I might be looking for some doors and a few other bits.
I'm only next door in Sheffield.

Cheers,

Simon

£300 would see that lot done, £400 if it's the wishbone ball joints to allow for full geometry...

That said if the struts are toast, then it will need a full set up... But nothing on that list is terminal nor cannot be fixed on a driveway :y

I would say that's fixable to be honest

Yep, exhaust, brakes and suspension - all wear items, really. You could get the same list from a new car's first MOT, to be honest. Emissions might well be OK once the exhaust is sorted too.

Or you could get your self over to me and pick up most of the parts needed off my breaker, I think the front struts have had new topmounts and shocks too ;)
