Title: Fuel Injector Info Needed
Post by: Clive of India on 15 June 2014, 20:45:42
Hi Guys

I've a couple of questions about fuel injectors for the Omega 2.5DT year 2000.

I'm after a new injector (not second hand) for the above car, the one with the needle lift sensor wire attached to it.
Does anyone know where I can buy one at a sensible price, I've tried the main agents and they want £244.42+vat so if my sums are right I'd be looking at £293.30 with the tax mans cut.
I know I can surf the net, but its always worth checking on the forum as someone may have already found a site with a more sensible price, I don't even mind if its got to come from Germany.

The other question is:
As far as the electrics side of fitting the injector is concerned, is it simply a case of plugging the business end of the wire into the socket and starting the car up and purging the air out of the system.
In other words what I'm asking is, do these cars need to be programed to set the engine management system up if the injector as been replaced with a new one.

Thanks for any help.

Clive

Unfortunately, that's about the right price, Clive.

Yes, just connect the multi-plug and pipework.
The multi-plug's quite difficult to access, and I've found it best to remove the inlet manifold. You'll also need to be really careful not to trap the plug's wiring too. Although it doesn't require programming to the car, there'll be 'stored' fault codes.
Start the engine and it'll quickly purge itself of air and run evenly quite quickly.

Why are you changing this unit anyway? ::)

Be aware that although mechanically and electrically identical, U25DT and X25DT have different connectors, so ensure you get the right one.

The price does sound about right.

Hi Guys

Thanks for your quick replies, I have to admit not quite the answer I was hoping for, I just wish someone had found out you could get them free with every packet of corn flakes  ;D

Seth the problem with the injector is, it was leaking where the two halves of the injector body screw into each other, so I decided to take them all out and get new nozzles fitted unfortunately in getting couple of them out I managed to break the metal leak off tubes but the company who fitted the new nozzles are also able to replace these tubes.

I have now refitted the injectors and isn’t the one with the sensor wire still leaking, so I guess the only cure will be to fit a new one.
I would have thought the leak would have shown up while the injector was under test.

Right guys this is what I’ve managed to find out so far: The Omega is fitted with a BMW 6 cylinder engine which I’m given to understand is also fitted in the Range Rover P38, mine has X25DT stamped on the side of the engine block.

I’ve been having a look on the net and found this so far http://p38spares.co.uk/commerce/product/1984/Range_Rover_P38_Fuel_Injector_&_Sensor_25_TD_-_99-02.html price £229.99 for a Range Rover P38 MKII 2.5 TD Models 1999 – 2002 From Vin/Chassis Number: WA409250
This is for a genuine Bosch item, so I’m assuming it would fit the engine in my car since they are supposed to be one of the same and its £64 cheaper, I'm still looking, just wish I could speak German, I'm sure Vauxhall as got a massive mark up on the spares just like any other spares they sell.

Also worth trying BMW, sometimes they do surprise.  I believe its M51TDS, but think that designation covers multiple versions
