Title: 65% increase but still cheap..
Post by: 2boxerdogs on 20 June 2014, 11:48:32
Going to change the oil & filter on the 2.2 this weekend always use genuine GM parts last year the oil filter was £2.35 plus vat, today it was £4.03 plus vat, the part number has changed but apart from that looks identical , still cheap I think but imagine all parts increasing by 65% !!

Yes it does have longlife written on it , but I still think the oil & filter should be changed together ,the 2.2 only does about 6,000 miles a year now done about 96,000 miles  never have to top up between changes .Most motoring experts recommend more frequent changes than the makers stipulate, I believe VX recommend 20,000 miles for oil change ,too long in my opinion & false economy..We have had the 2.2 almost 3 years now & have always used fully synthetic oil (Halfords own bought loads of it at £10.00 in their sale) Had no problems with it.

I believe that regular oil changes also keep the breathers free.
