Title: Help - indicators, or lack of
Post by: dbug on 24 June 2014, 20:52:40
Car - '03 2.6 V6 Estate.

Indicators have packed up - will flash ok once only.  Same with hazards - one flash then nothing.  Indicators still all flash ok on locking/unlocking car on fob.
Tried switching hazard switch on/off about 30 - 40 times - no change.
Guess that rules out fuse - looking at wiring diag suspect it may be a dodgy relay (K10) - perhaps someone can advise.

If relay, which one is it?  And is there a similar one I can swap to check?

Thanks

I'd be changing the flasher unit first - in fusebox, it is labelled (on the cover)

Cheers guys - confirmed my thoughts - think part no is 09 148 292 - got my local breakers checking for one in the morning :y
Believe also used on Astras and early Corsas ;)

Its usually the electrolytic capacitor that goes dry inside them

Well I've replaced the "flasher" relay (09 148 292) with a known working one, as well as the hazard switch with a known working one - now indicators come on and stay on until cancelled, no flashing - same with the hazard switch.

Suspect now the alarm indicator relay (90 060 264), as I believe someone else cured this issue by replacing this relay.
Any other suggestions guys?

Continuing the saga - replaced the alarm indicator relay (90 060 264) today courtesy of Serek (the one up behind the glovebox) - still no change to indicator operation, although needed to recode radio as it came up SAFE.  As now getting desperate, swapped out the indicator switch itself - still no difference.

Now at a loss - anyone out there got any other ideas?

On other cars ive had loose wire/plug behind fuse box that the relay plugs into  :y

Have you tried wriggling them around while indicators are on and relay plugged in.

No not yet - will give it a go tomorrow when I try yet another "flasher" relay - although have tried "waggling" the relay.
Giving it a break for rest of today :-\

Is the relay plugged in correctly, did you bend any of its pins when pushing in, tall black one top centre from memory.  :-\

Its been in and out a couple of times - pins all straight (well used to inserting multipin cpus into motherboards  ;)) - but thanx for suggestion.

Changing the flasher changed the symptom. That makes me suspicious of the part.

I think I'd be getting the meter out about now...

Funny you should say that Jaime but I have a nagging gut instinct re the replacement flasher relay :-\  Already made arrangements to obtain another tomorrow - will see then if my instinct is right (or wrong!).

Final update - replaced the large flasher relay in the fuse box with another (thanks gain to Serek :y), and indicators and hazards now working normally.  Should have stuck to original gut instinct and saved me swapping hazard switch (pita to get out), swapping the grey relay behind glove box (more work dropping glove box out), and swapping indicator switch.
Thanks to all for suggestions :y
