.....talk to me.
Just read about this. Has anyone used this method? From what I've read it is the best way to remove rust other than cutting it out/welding new in.
Any info/experience anyone???

I taught electronics, not mechanics, but my mechanical colleagues used a thing called a Spark Eroder to free corroded parts. I expect you already know what it does, but just in case; it applies a high voltage at a distance from the corroded part and a spark jumps from the Eroder to the part, etching the crud away.
I don't suppose that technique could be used on a car, but I thought it was worth a mention.

Read up on it here ..

or here .. just the same chemistry with different ideas/techniques

Thanks BR,
I've literally no knowledge on this other than I've just read about it... some dude chucks a properly rusty back plate/hub assembly in a ''bath'' and next morning its like brand new ??? ??? ??? ??? ???
presumably this cant be rigged to do a chassis/body sections?

How are you going to manage it on the car?
Once bodywork corrodes, cutting and welding is the only answer.

That's what I was thinking....but worth a ponder imo

high voltage sparks on a car :-\
you may end up with a burned ecu only if you are lucky.. dont want to mention mention bad luck options ;D

Tried it on my hubs does work but takes ages and it stinks. Use a media blasting cabinet and get the same results in less time.

Just got a bit excited, Cem... when I saw ''removes all rust and is very cheap'' my eyes lit up ::)
Had visions of the car sitting in a paddling pool while I drink beer and put no effort in at all... you get the picture ;D

Electrolysis - thought that was for hair removal ;D ;D ;D

Individual parts it does work , when are we stripping your car down to the chassis ::) ;D
