Do JPAT still do parts for the AR35? Can't see it listed on the website.
Probably me though.

Click on 4L30E

Cheers for that. I was looking for AR35.
-
ar35 is 4l40E I think.

Iirc AR35 is GM's description for the BMW 4L40E. Or something like that.
-
Designation is 4L30 which is a 3L30 with an extra gear bolted onto it (Hence the second sump).
AR35 designed to handle up to 350nm of Torque, AR25 designed to handle up to 250nm of Torque.
Only real difference on the BMW version (Although they are all made by GM in France) is the inclusion of a drain plug and the fact BMW only used the AR35.
What I'd like to know more about is the 5L40 fitted to certain 2.5DTi's and some 3.2 V6's (Hans V6's had one on his 3.2) in other countries.
-
Interesting. Theory here was there's no software to run that box on anything other than the 2.5Dti :-\
-
If you look back on here for the pictures posted of his 3.2 you'll see the gearbox selector clearly states 4/3/2 whereas ours all have 3/2/1

So if an official GM release and not a retro fit, there must be software available.
Is that an ESP symbol as well?
-
Yep ESP fitted.
-
Indeed it is, but it must be imaginary as that doesn't exist either ::)

...and the gear indicator. ;D
If fitted to TBE... mine already has five forward gears ;D

The gears are fine. It's the Edwardian but in between.
I really can NOT be arsed with a manual for road use. Auto aaaaall day long.

Did the Edwardians have rubber? I'm sure those rubber lever bushes are meant to improve things ;)

As slick as a well oiled Winchester without it :y

My auto is slicker. I don't even have to move. :P
It's one thing being "involved" but quite another kneeing myself in the chin 5 times to get above 70 :P ( ;D )

autos were that good the FIA banned them from F1,GROUP C, RALLYING, etc. Auto is sooo much better, even Volvo,Daf, Scarnia think so too. :y
-
To clarify again, there is *NO* GM software to allow the 5 speed auto to be fitted to anything other than a 2.5DTi
I never much doubt, seeing as the Omega stopped production over 10yrs ago, and it was never a marketed configuration, that GM will ever develop and release software for it.

This was just the frame / indicator taken from an 2.5DTI which was placed in the 3.2 as a joke, it doesn't actually have a 5spd auto.
