Title: Carpets
Post by: Lagondanet on 07 July 2014, 13:27:17
My front carpets/mats don't have the retaining studs referred to elsewhere (either one or two). Is that normal?

Who do you recommend for replacement mats?

If your car is a '51 or '02 reg then consider it normal... as a rule, only fitted to late 2002 onwards 2003my cars :y

Vauxhall / LMF for new ones unless you know a reputable trimmer to make a set. Genuine ones should come with suitable fittings as well :y

Well whoopdi...kingdo ::) besides that's not a 2002my car...

The carpets from a '51 plate Elite that I fitted with the interior didn't. Since replaced with ones from an '03 CD which did...

They were dropped by the bean counters along with the heel pad... both reintroduced for the final production run iirc :y

Now that would explain why my 95 did and my 03 doesn't.

On the subject of carpets  . . .    my now sold on  2.6 MV6   '51 plate  had a basic (poor) quality carpet fitted

 But have noticed my "new" '53 MV6 has the same plush carpet as the '53 Elite I have .  Would that have been factory fitted or has someone replaced it ? :-\

Later MV6s probably had the posh carpet fitted from the factory... there seems to have been some up speccing for the final year of production...

Gls gained wood trim, electric rear windows and CD wheels.

Some '52 on MV6s have standard front bumpers as well, although that could just as easily be the result of accident repairs :-\
