Parma Violets, that were 2/6d a quarter in 1967, and sold from a lovely shaped jar, and not to be confused with the modern version sold in a small round packet.

By then I was a counter assistant in a confectioners and I spent my hard earned wages on these beauties when other sweets were about 7d a quarter.  Damned expensive by lovely! :-* :-* :-* :-*

No Lizzie, I can only remember them at four a penny, although I only came across them in the Tuck Shop at grammar school and a bag of nuts and raisins were sixpence. :y That was 1963. :o
I do remember using farthings though, withdrawn in 1960.

I used to buy penny bubbies with black and white pictures of the Beatles to collect, the Rolling Stones were in colour at junior school, wish I'd kept them. :y

A Jubbly was 4d in 1969, I was working by then. ;D

Yes in 1958, certainly up to 1960, I used to get 8 to the 1/2d, and when I (unofficially) joined the confectionery trade in 1965 we were counting out 8 to the 1d.  So the price was climbing, but the size stayed the same until about 1972 and then, like some other popular products reduced in size after RPM was abolished and supermarkets could use products in price promotions. Boy, did the trade change after that!! :o :o :y
