Title: Front caliper carriers.
Post by: Bikerdon on 14 July 2014, 19:39:00
Hi, does anyone know is the front caliper carriers are still available, my o/s one has a stupid amount of play in the top slider pin and needs replaced. Pins themselves are ok, just the hole in the carrier seems excessively worn.

Are the oval "sleeves" still in position ?? without them the pins will appear loose as it is the "sleeves" (don't know the correct, fancy name - shims ??) that actually hold the pins in place. I had to replace a couple as they had corroded and fallen off.

I wasn't aware that there were any sleeves/shims on the front carrier slider pins, as far as I know the slider pins fit straight into the drilled slider hole on the caliper carrier, these are greased and have a small rubber boot on them to contain the grease/keep the elements out.
Thinking about it now, the brake pad pins on the rear calipers have a small sleeve/shim on them to hold them in place, perhaps that is what you are referring to. 2001 2.6 facelift estate.

Be best getting a replacement from someone who's breaking a car, I reckon. They should only fail if the rubber gaiter has perished and allowed the damp in.
