lower edge of front spoiler in the centre :y

thanks Andy :)

Access from above, as it lives directly beneath the washer bottle in the centre of the bumper. Just clips into its bracket. You may well find that it has come adrift and is resting next to the powersteering pipes, making it read a bit hot... :y
-
And needs to be fixed as it also supplies the ambient temp reading to the climate control
-
climate control = having the front windows open ;D ;D ;D

You laugh now, but in winter you'll be freezing your nads off! Mine did the same thing over winter (it's working fine now, of course, magically fixed itself) and you get no heat unless you set the heater to "Hi" and then you get to flip between roasting like a chestnut and freezing like Jack Frost.. ;D

The same sensor is used on a range of Vauxhalls, but the last one I bought from the dealer was about £6

IIRC the temperature sensor shares a short length of wiring loom with the fog lights behind the bumper. If the wiring gets damaged or corrosion gets into the electrical connectors that can also give a duff temperature reading.
