well it was a very warm  58 degrees today, according to the temp read out ;D ;D

New sensor,try scrapyards,all the same on astra,corsa,vectra,frontera,i picked up several last time i went and cost nothing lol :)

prob a daft question,,,, where can I find it :(
I will find one in this area, but as I have only seen one miggy this past 8 days, and have been to northumberland for a few days R & R,,,, is  my own :(

Access from above, as it lives directly beneath the washer bottle in the centre of the bumper. Just clips into its bracket. You may well find that it has come adrift and is resting next to the powersteering pipes, making it read a bit hot... :y

And needs to be fixed as it also supplies the ambient temp reading to the climate control

You laugh now, but in winter you'll be freezing your nads off! Mine did the same thing over winter (it's working fine now, of course, magically fixed itself) and you get no heat unless you set the heater to "Hi" and then you get to flip between roasting like a chestnut and freezing like Jack Frost.. ;D

The same sensor is used on a range of Vauxhalls, but the last one I bought from the dealer was about £6

IIRC the temperature sensor shares a short length of wiring loom with the fog lights behind the bumper. If the wiring gets damaged or corrosion gets into the electrical connectors that can also give a duff temperature reading.

Hmmmm, just filled the windscreen bottle up, shut bonnet, and it works as it should  ;D 22.5 and not 50  odd

Sounds like a good ol' fashioned wiring fault then...
