Not wired the tow bar up yet but what Relay do i need to buy , is it vx part :-\
-
Vauxhall sell a reassuringly expensive indicator relay (about £50 IIRC) that will light the tell tale on the dash if it senses the extra load of a trailer indicator. You do need to fit the bulb in the instrument console but the wiring is already there.
I thought the VX price was a bit steep so I went to an independent Land Rover dealer and got a Lucas relay for about £15.
Either the VX or pattern relay is a straight swap for the original indicator relay.
I also bought a module to monitor the brake lights but I have never found the time to fit it..

When I was sourcing my towbar in February 2011 AndyC sent me this part number
Relay 90463123.
I don't have a description so I can't be sure it is the indicator relay....
Not sure why I thought it was so expensive, Andy quoted me £19.57 :-\

It's not. It's the 'trailer check control' 'relay'/box of electrickery. It extends the brake check from the car to your trailer/caravan ........ http://oldsite.omegaowners.com//forum/YaBB.pl?num=1175364013/all .... depends on preface lift or facelift as to where it lives :y

Im not very good at electricery :( getting a bit confused as where to start . Cant it just be spliced into original wiring at the back , why does it need a relay/buzzer and stuff :-\

You NEED a 4 pin flasher relay instead of the 3 in already fitted under the column
But the the 'relay' above is a nice to have so you can tell if your brake lights work while towing but, if you pick up the brake light feed at the socket in the boot (yellow/black ???) it needs to have the relay fitted up front for the trailer brake lights to work OR you can bridge the relevant connections in the base where the relay would fit to give a feed to your trailer OR pick the trailer brake light feed up from one of the car's brake lights. :y

Flasher relay ........ ::) price wise I think you've just got a standard relay ie a switch ;)

The Omega has front and rear indicators (each 21 Watts) a side repeater (10 Watts? or maybe also 21 Watts :-\) and an indicator in the dash (1.2 Watts? or 4 Watts?)
Your relay may say something like '21W+21W+10W+1.2W' in which case it should just work.
The first one I tried was too sensitive & saw the side repeater as a trailer. They found me another which was less sensitive and that behaves as it should.

All it says is 12v 30 amp :(
Theres a diagram on the relay looks like this ...

No. That's a completely different thing ....... you don't need one of them in an Omega, but if you did, it would supply your trailer lights.

I have the audible bit :y

Thanks Rob :) Am i right in saying its the LAW now to fit audible indicators :-\
No, you just need a method of knowing an indicator has failed. You can use a buzzer as you suggest or add a lamp to the dash that indicate that they are working, but often these days with CANbus on newer cars, its sufficient for the indicators to rapid flash (as they do on the car) when one of the trailer indicators fails.

:y :y I'm sure you'll enjoy using it when you get it. Have you any idea what you're after? Only the two of us (and a Mutt) go away in ours so have a large 2 berth .... a Lunar 520/2 single axle.

2 berth is plenty big enough , not looking for anything fancy just something that will do the job of taking us away for a few days away a year . Looking forward to it , always liked caravanning and after the last camping trip and getting bitten to bits by bugs and crawling in and out of a tent the caravan will suit my needs much better :y Dont mind getting something that needs a bit of sprucing up and diy , hopefully we can get a few holidays in before end of season .
