I have a 95 omega with the old type mid. The kind with one black and one yellow connector on the back. The display has the typical missing pixels and its only four years old. Really dont want to pay Opel insane amount of money for a new display which will probably only last a couple of years. Is it possible to fit a newer type mid with just the one grey connector just by modifying the connectors or will there be compability/programming issues? Radio is pioneer afternarket with a display adaptor. Is the newer type mid less prone to pixel failure? All info welcome:)

Yes, perfectly possible, all the required signals are there.
You can use the wiring diagrams in the Haynes book of 'dangle berries' to work out what needs to go were, as it covers early/late MIDs (Hayne's idea of "late" is 1998/1999 models ;D)

yea, newer type are more reliable in that sense.

Its very rare for the new type to fail.
What sort of radio, as I'm not sure if SC804 works with 10 digit radio output.
The MID has to be programmed to match the engine, gearbox, headlights, tyres and additional heaters fitted. Tech2 job.

Radio is a pioneer aftermarket unit. With an interface to the omega display. Guess Im looking for the display numbered gm 90565934 /Opel nr 1236514?

Just done this on my car, foolishly didn't take pictures for a how to but I will pm you how I did it and how I fixed the couple of issues I had.

Especially as you're essentially swapping pins from two plugs into one :-\ I used the 'later' Haynes diagrams for the pin numbers, you'll simply need to crossreference the 'early' Haynes diagram for the two plugs to swap the pins into the later plug :y
Should be an easy afternoons work... :y
