What is the message on the screen?

It displayed disc 1, 2, 3, 4 ... on top on the display and went through them all with an Error below possibly Disc error can't recall would need to try again. All genuine discs.

Cartridge holder or laser it must be. Can't find one on eBay though to eliminate...

I have a few 4 CD disk holders. This happens with some of them so I just don't use those. But I have no idea what the difference between them is  ???

If you are using genuine discs, its the laser that has failed. Cartridge has no bearing on disc playback,

its just a holder for when they are not is use.

Great  :'( ;D

Are lasers as poor as the ones on the Omega on other brands of cars of similar age/milage etc.. I wonder.. Such as E class, 5 series, LS430..

It's not the fault of the lasers ::) Entirely caused by user error, which makes you wonder why they bothered with the manual for the audio ::) (or the owners manual for that matter :-X)

I'll just stick to the radio then, Saving whats left of the Sat-Nav slot laser for the Sat-Nav disc, That's temperamental at best.

Lasers are not that poor at all, and difficult to compare with other vehicles of similar age/mileage, as the Omega was higher spec than most and has also outlasted most other marques too. Lasers were never meant to last this long, but that said, they would last much longer if as has been mentioned, people read the manuals and stopped using non compatable media with them - its a killer.

And when searching for spares, the CDC is a CDC3, not CDC4
