cant understand why it wasn't done in the day they said it was H@S issues but thought it would have been safer in the daylight when you can see what you doing.

A sad day last year when it was turned off. I guess windless evenings will mean no knobenders, so its not all bad news

Used to be a welcome source of thermals, although they did smell a bit sulphurous, and looking down on that big yard of 500kv switchgear did focus the mind! :(

They'd have us believe they vent nothing but steam. From what I've read.

The cooling towers vent nought but steam. Obviously the main chimney will have the particles from coal and gas

So nout but steam then, with coal and gas. Gotcha. ::)

TB demolition didn't quite on this one then? As I'm sure they would of been cheapest . :)

Yeah, you only get steam out of the cooling towers, but you need the evil little chimney to make them work, and what comes out of that isn't pleasant, hence nanny EU made us demolish it. ;)

And they didn't hang around either!  ::)

I wonder if anyone thought about mothballing it for a few years just in case....  :-\

Apparently, they needed a controlled explosion. Wimps!

Yeah, we'll get a huge dose of hindsight at some point in time. Fairly soon if Putin's antics continue.

Yes are we taking bets on when Putin puts the price if gas up? I rekon about September November.

...or that will be the excuse anyway, even if he doesn't.
