I would hazard a guess its for some optional piece of equipment like the electrics for a towing hitch.

Looks like the plug that goes into the cd changer, but I assume that is still working?
The coax looks like cellular

Maybe the earlier cellular kit, that was an option before the ccrt700 became available?

Oops dident notice the coax. Mmmm the mystery deepens.
I take it the original wiring to the CD changer was never bipassed for any reason and rewired?
-
Dunno about the coax.......but could the other connector be for ff parking sensors? :-/

I dont think there is room for it as the Amp is behind the multi player.

Thinking about it, both mine have similar plugs near bose amp... ...must be for old cellular RF unit then...

it makes sense , its the coax that point it in that direction, the question is does anyone with an earlier mig without ccrt 700 have anything plugged in there

Can't remember, but Motorola did have the carphone market sewn up in the early 90s

Only just found this thread!!! ::) ::) ::) ::)
I seem to remember a similar conversation about 6 weeks back and the conclusion was that it was for the OnStar system, which was never actually activated in the UK!
