Title: Twister in the Carribean. (Hurricane Bertha)
Post by: chrisgixer on 04 August 2014, 00:55:35
.....looks like it might spin up the US coast and head over in our direction. Not full strength for us of course, but enough to affect out weather :(

So, was summer good for you?  :'(

I actually thought it was quite a good summer tbh. But then I don't like it too hot. Those that prefer higher temps might not agree?

Summer down here has been fantastic. This week I am off work so it's a sure bet that summer will be over or at least until next week when I go back :y

I can't remember a summer this hot, but then again I can't remember what I did yesterday ;D

.. and ever so slightly patronising. "Be Aware" OK, I'm aware. Next! ::)

Should I read the "what to do in a weather warning" page? Maybe it'll remind me to take my brollie with me if it's ssipping down. Or perhaps it'll advise me to stay at home and lock the door unless my journey is "essential". ;D

Yes its funny re cats. We've had two males over the years. Both shit scared of thunder or storms.

Yet the surviving female, the sweetest timidest, most charming cat you'd ever meet, never bats an eye lid. Fireworks night. Storms. Decking builds. Lawn mower, within reason. Not bothered in the slightest.

Hoover raises some concern with her, while he hisses at the cupboard its in. ;D

Its lovely here just now , sun is out and quite warm but a steady breeze .. must be the tail end of the storm and hopefully not the eye  :o

Bastid Bertha she's blown over a 20 foot row of runner beans we'd just started picking canes all smashed >:(. Tried putting the row back up with new 8 foot canes but the ground is too hard to  provide any support :(. I will leave them on the ground and see what happens but I reckon that's it for this years crop, I prefer peas anyway.

Shame!  :'(  I'd have thought they'd rot on the ground...  :-\

I tied some guy ropes on mine and they survived, but they do look a bit battered!  ::)  Had a few meals off them and they're delicious!  :y

That's what I think, still the tomatoes are getting ready had a few already, the onions, beetroot and carrots are doing very well and the salad stuff, just the runners all that effort GRRRRRRRRRR
