Cem....do they not sell cider in Turkey. I picked my family up today after they flew in to Gatwick. They had been in Bodrum for 10 days, and said they could not find cider anywhere, bars, shops etc.
Do the Turks not like cider !!
They did see a green Omega there though. :y

We know that cider has been around for ages, possibly centuries. But recent years has seen an explosion in cider consumption, 100% due to marketing hype and advertising all using carefully considered brand names and labels. The same kind of thing that lager went through some 20 or more years ago.
Go to Calvados and another areas of rural France, cider consumption is common, but you won't see any Koppelbergs or Magners or whatever, just nice local stuff :y

personally never seen anywhere else for at least a decade.. :-\
after a google search I just found a local producer in Şirince under this name
"Vincent Cider Köpüren Elma Sarabi" but probably they produce in small numbers so not marketed to south touristic zones :(
and I guess its not asked frequently :-\
and I must admit I never drink it whole my life! but promise I'll try whenever I find ;D :y

When in Penzance a few years back they wouldn't sell me a pint of some mystical brew called Hoff.
So I ordered 2 half pints, no problem sir he says ;D ;D ;D

I used to get 5 gallons of farmhouse cider through my father in law from a source near Honiton. It was still, cloudy and strong, normally only had a pint in an evening and 2 pints was my limit where it felt like you had drunk a bottle of wine. So I suspect it was at the traditional strength of 7-8%. It has its own very distinctive dry taste, which suits my pallette. :y :y :y
French mass produced local cider tastes very different to that in the UK where it has a much dryer taste. Must admit I enjoy drinking it, but like Calvados, which is apple brandy, even more. :y :y :y

Being a Muslim state, one should be grateful that alcohol is available at all, rather than outlawed as the islamentalists are trying to do in Egypt :-\

That will do wonders for their main industry, tourism. :o

although ours is a secular state , in the last 10 years things have changed radically.. I'm afraid in the future they will ban it.. :(
