I'm one of those people that buy premium petrol, in particular Shell V Power

Tesco Momentum99 is pretty good, I'm happy to buy it instead of Vpower and it's usually very much cheaper

I'm not going to get into the debate about whether these fuels are worth the extra, it's been done before, and I believe some of them are, but not all.

How much shopping spend do you need to do to get them sort of discounts though?

Tend not to use Tesco for fuel, well ever since they stopped doing LPG yonks ago, do tend to use the Sainsbury's thing where you do a £20 shop, not difficult without breaking the bank, and then get 6p off per litre, so in my case gets it down from 64.9p to 58.9p per litre, just wish my LPG tank was bigger,  :(  :y

Think its 2p off every litre for £50 you spend!

But saying that, adverts mention "get 20p off litre" but local tesco garage guy said maximum you can save upto is 8p off every litre. Which is valid until end of the following month.

So doing the numbers, and assuming you can buy up to 100 litres -

Tesco £2 Off for £50 spend - 4% Discount
Sainbury's £6 Off for £20 spend  - 30% Discount, plus you get to keep your Nectar points.

Quiet a difference.  ;)

Way back in the mists of time I used to 'borrow' petrol from our next door neighbour. He was a bastard and owned  a 1967 Austin 1100 so I don't feel guilty even now. ::) ::) :)

Petrol was something like 75p a gallon back then (1976-77)

Thats not a bad deal, shame no local sainsbury's fuel pumps.

I normally go M11 then A12 to get to most places in Central or South London, so if juice is needed I do a slight detour to Sainsbury's Beckton (Junc A406 / A13). Which is also the cheapest place in London for LPG.  ;)

He's wrong. It is a maximum of 20p off per litre. Whether you use pay at pump or in the kiosk, when you scan your Clubcard, it adjusts the price per litre automatically. I paid £1.07 a litre when I filled up recently at pay at the pump.  :y

So does that mean after £500 of shopping you get 20p of litre ???
So for argument if someone fills up 100 litres = saving of £20
compared to shell which gives £2.50 off every 500 points collected (1 point for every litre filled)
Tesco deal doesnt seem that bad after all.
