Mayo on the oil cap or the coolant cap?

If oil cap, nowt to immediately worry about.
If coolant cap, change the oil cooler before it fails completely  :y

As Al says above - any trace of "mayo" in cooling system or on coolant cap indicates failing or failed oil cooler - replace asap :y

First up, when you heat summat it expands and if liquid, will boil.
So if you heat the coolant it expands and ultimately boils.
If it expands with the cap off it will overflow.
Put the cap on and heat it up, it cannot go anywhere, and therefore pressurises the system.
This pressure increase raises the boiling point to about 110°c, which makes the coolant more efficient as it prevents it from boiling off in normal running.

If your car is actually overheating, then the first thing to look at is whether the fans are all running or not. If they don't operate as expected then that's where you need to start :y

Depends on the type of driving you do, but in traffic they can get a bit toasty... the 3.2 needs a couple of hours to cool down before you do any serious spannering otherwise you stand a good chance of burning yourself on summat ::)

Don't forget, it has been quite warm the last few weeks :y
