well woke up and went out to the miggy, to go to work, and all the torrential rain gave me an inch of water in the passenger and rear footwells yet again >:( >:(
I cleaned the scuttles out, but somehow the passenger side must have had an obstruction, it was full again, pushed the long metal wire I keep in the car now, after finding the drainage hole ( sore hands again trying to find the hole), just want a few warm days to dry the f,ing carpets now.
-
Take the pollen filter housing out and give the void a real good clean it blocks up very easily. :y
-
As for drying the carpets, seats out and hang the capets on the washing line for a couple of days :y
-
When I had this problem I dried it all out with a fan heater without taking the seats out. I check my scuttle drain more often than the oil level it has become an obsession ;D
-
Remove the bung, job done

That won't dry out the foam sound deadening under the carpet, which won't do the floor any favours ::)
-
I lifted the carpets and foam before drying.

I have thought about removing the bung but surely its there for some reason

When I cleaned my pollen filter I found the bung but not the drain hole. Where is it exactly?
If I can't find it I'll remove the large bung as suggested by Rob G. :y

If I remember there is a small gap between the bulkhead and the chassis that I poked some wire in and it cleared it and had not water since

Follow the top of the nearside front chassis rail back from the PAS bottle to the bulkhead. Where it disappears from view is where the drain spout lives :y

what,,,, in this rain ;D ;D ;D ;D
been non stop since 8.30 this morning lol
-
i cleaned mine recently, found it imposible to poke anything thu the bung from pollen filter end it comes out on the chassies at right angles to the bottom of the pollen fillter end if you poke something thu you just hit the chassie .
however if you poke it from chassie end its easy located exactly where al ses.
i would also get your hover out and hover the crap out by polen filter.
i got some odd looks frm the neibours tho. ;D ;D :y
-
I just wish I had smaller hands, they are very very sore trying to get between the filter and bulkhead lol. But just keep poking the bottom until the wire disappears, am getting used to this now. See what it like in the morning, if its full again, may just sell the car, as am sick of it now. Thank god I have not put the new genuine floor mats in :) :) :)
-
yes there not much room i sliced my arm in two places tryin to get my arm down to the bung just couldnt do it.
thats why i did from the other end and got hover in there. :y

I had the same problem, driving through Friday's monsoon rains on the A428 in Cambriidgeshire. The drain works but not for the rate of water that was pouring down the windscreen. Had about two inches in the rear footwell wbich created a tsunami into the front footwell every time I slowed down.

thats what happened to me.when I slowed down I exclaimed,,,, for F*&^%sake

Is there some confusion here? I thought that the drain hole was part of the rubber bung take it out completely and you have a large, inch and a quarter hole? which would allow the water to run straight out onto the chassis leg ,ie no obstruction atall. Does the bung over time get tired and the hole tend to close up?
-
yes the bung is the drain hole false stop, but unless you have matchstick arms you wont be able to get your arm in to remove it ;D ;D
-
If you are determined to remove it a long stick with a hook on the the end or a piece of strong wire should get it out. An earlier post said take out the pollen filter carrier to get room I dont know what sort of job this is.
-
I removed my pollen filter poked the dirt out the small hole then washed it out with small amount of water to make sure it drained.
-
yes but needs doing on a regular basis depending on where car is parked, under trees etc.
-
The lad at work who replaced discs and pads, said the chassis leg, were the water runs, was a very bad design fault, as the leg is as rusty as hell, and needs sorting, I have not seen it yet, but would have thought that a longer pipe would have sorted the problem when the car was designed, keeping the water away from the chassis, cause we all know what water and metal cause :( :(
-
The leg itself is a very efficient drain :y
