Title: Rear Coil Springs
Post by: Figureman52 on 13 August 2014, 14:12:34
Looking for a bit of advice, I ordered a pair of rear springs from Buypartsby which, looking at an old thread on here suggested the ref no to be RJ6226. They have supplied RX5414, which according to the KYB catalogue are also right for the car but are 251mm rather than 268 mm in length.

Has anyone fitted these and would they be O.K?

The rear springs at the moment were fitted by the stealer and are part no. V0090542359.

Thanks.

Always thought all the standard Omega rear springs where the same length...?

With those springs, I doubt you'd notice any difference in the ride height TBH...

Hummm KYB, not impressed with them to be honest, snapped very quickly on both 2.2's we had. I'm using Boge now, last time I checked (few months ago) still like new, even though been on a few years. KYB rust very quickly, don't appear that well cast either....

Coil springs aren't cast!
They're wound from drawn wire.

Rj6226 are for self levelling air suspension. Elite only. You do NOT want these without the air suspension as they are soft and designed to work together with air shocks so the car will ride way too low at the back and potentially be unsafe in corners and ground out.

Rx5414 are for standard suspension. Standard suspension in Vauxhall terms means NOT mv6, NOT elite. (Ignoring plod)

You have the correct kyb springs for your car. Saloon. Not Elite. Not mv6 (kyb don't do mv6 anyway, last I looked)

I fitted  Kyb springs to the rear this was in 2011. They said that RX6226 was the correct spring for my 2.6 CD 2003  In the previous post RJ 6226 is mentioned. Have I fitted the wrong springs? I must admit the rear is quite low.

I found a reference on the net that says that KJB changed the RX6226 to RX 5414 whether just the ref no changed or the spring is different I dont know.
