Title: What model is your Omega
Post by: TheBoy on 28 August 2014, 13:09:15
Following on from another thread. Not currently fussed if estate/saloon, PFL/MFL/FL, just interested in spec (as it left factory, not what's been subsequently added).

Other things will follow in additional polls later.

From what has turned up at my house, and from recent meets I've been to, as I said on another thread, I think the lower spec cars are starting to disappear.

I've not got the figures to hand, but I wouldn't be surprised if the CD was the most common to leave the factory, with Elites relatively rarer. But as they common bargain banger territory, that's changed.

Where's the superior option?
Top of the list, dear boy. Top of the list... ;D

Correct engine (best available to buy new, rather than the best engine)
Correct gearbox
Correct colour
Correct spec (ideal blank canvas with the core of the wiring in place)

What could possibly go wrong... ::)

Poppy cooooock.

No CID. Or wiring. Not Telematics wiring. No Bose. No Memory. No heated seats or rear lecy windows.

And as Black 3.2 ones are THE fastest omegas. Obviously that makes white ones the slowest 3.2's. Obviously!

...especially when couple to Edwardian technology. ;D

All of your list can be readily be retrofitted, including the gearbox ;D

And properly decorated, the white ones are definitely faster, they just are... ::)

And that's certainly not what my mirror tells me. With the apparent excuse "its always in the wrong gear" ;D

Non standard are Xmas trees, which I won't need to move for anyway. Obviously. ;D

While 5 gears would most certainly be an advantage, they need proper control, rather than leverage to operate them. Leverage in turn means long levers, which means a looooong throw, which means the advantage of the fifth gear is completely lost by the act of engaging it.

Knee in chin 1,2 ...Clutch DOOOOWN(struggle) 3,4 ....pull Edwardian signal box lever(kerchunk) 5,6 ....let clutch lever up without braking jaw with knee 7,8 ....press accelerator at last 9,10 ....   Repeat steps 1-10 for second gear 10feet later....

I'd rather walk ;D :P

It's not listed as an option on the MV6 on the 1998 spec list but its a 2000 V reg - it does have the twin Bose speakers in the back shelf and the amp in the boot under the shelf.

Sounds nice too  :y

The mv6/8 project has 2013 and CID. But not Bose. The standard speaker set up is poor, at best, by comparison to Bose. IMO.

NCDC2013 optional on all except GLS/Elite, and, with Bose, cost option on Elite, standard on 3.2 Elite.

NCDC2015 as NCDC2013 but, with Bose, only optional on all Elite.

A 2000 reg 2.0 litre x20xev facelift GLS manual with what had a CDR2003 replaced with a aftermarket unit. 132k miles, 1 wind up window at the back and one electric which dosent work

Special addons include absolutely nothing, not even wood trim (added a bit after)

Engine is bulletproof the body is slowly falling apart. Every body panel and bumper needs replacing and rust eating away at arches+door  😭😭😭😭😭😭

If anyone wants to swap please let me know x
