Title: It's a good job this forum is here.
Post by: The Sheriff on 28 August 2014, 20:37:02
Just been having a read through some of the more technical threads (Yes, I can read). The mechanical threads ( engine, gearbox), although quite complicated at times, I think would be within the capabilities of a good garage mechanic. But some of the others, mostly the electrical ones, are really involved, and, although model specific, I think would be beyond the understanding of your average grease monkey. Don't even mention main dealer gorillas. ;D
Although I tend to take the pee quite a bit, even I appreciate the knowledge and effort that is put in to help individual members who, I think, would be either scrapping or being royally ripped off without the resources available here.
Well done to the lads who patiently come up with the answers time after time (you know who you are). :y :y

I don't do my own work. It's nice to be able to say to the garage that I'm paying . . . Yes but . . . They always seem to think that they know everything and can BS you, but if you throw something sensible at them, it changes  :y

Sensible ? Is that word allowed here ? Particularly from you know who . . . .

I thoroughly agree! :y :y :y :y :y

If I wasn't so far south I would have used the practical help by now, although I did help one local member once. Instead, if I cannot do it/cannot be bothered to do it, getting covered in grease and muck, I use my local Vx dealership who I have an understanding with. But, thank God for the great advise available on this forum! :y :y :y :y :y
