Well yes, but let's put this into perspective. They forecast profits of 2.8 BILLION but it seems that the actual figure is likely to be in the region of 2.4 BILLION. So, it's not as though they are on the skids or anything, it's just that they are not making quite as much money as they thought they would or as much as they would like to. Me too ! I don't get paid as much as I would like

Anyway, I'm just off to Lidl   :y

Tesco had it far too easy for far too long, and because their profits kept rising they had little or no respect for the needs of  their customers.

The problem for them is that shareholders, Directors etc always expect growth, growth, more, more. But, how do you grow when you are already the biggest ?

When you are already on the top of the mountain, there's only one way to go, and you become the primary target for every competitor.

I was in Waitrose yesterday and abought a really tiny pice of cheese from the deli counter, and made some coment to the young server about me being the last of the big spenders

His response, that's ok sir, "Every Little Helps" and rapidly slapped his hand over his mouth  ;D

Cheese was Italian Occelli Barolo - delicious  :y

Actually, you could at my local. It's in a multi storey car park with a big flat roof

But if you drink posh stuff like Peroni, you don't need to shop at Lidl  ::)
