Title: Strange values on Central Info Display !!!
Post by: DrAndyB on 30 August 2014, 18:26:41
Hi all,

I was trying to clear the "Check" on the central display (Washer bottle empty !!) and found if pressed both buttons in for a few seconds the following was displayed in the top section.

What on earth does it mean ?  Miles left till it explodes  :D  Never seen this display before  ???

"Check" was still there dispite full washer bottle  >:(  (new switch ordered and connected shorted out for now to clear the "Check"  ;)
Damned washer bottle sensor has always been "iffy" since I have had the car from new.  Always seemed to tell me "Washer Fluid" just as the last dribble comes out and the wipers scrape accros a now dry windscreen  >:( >:( >:(

Tried to Google it, and translating a german site it appears to be something along the lines of one is Software version (the 3), the big number the  number of impulses received by the counter miles daily ?? (differs on wheel size apparently !) and who knows what the 33 is !!!  There is a change that Google Translate is making it up !!!

That's the programming info for the unit... corresponds to the engine, gearbox and wheel/tyre size, thereby ensuring that the fuel info is (relatively) accurate :y

So if I put CD 16/225/55s on instead of Elite 17/235/?? will my GID read wrong?  ???

Doubt it ... I went the other way, put 17" later Elite wheels on my MFL Elite. I see that the GID would know if you didn't tell it  ;)

Doesn't need Tech2, I reconfigured my old yellow plug one with a hammer.  :o

OK to further clarify, as that old thread wasn't entirely correct...

Top left=Code Index
Top right=Software version
Underneath=Pulses per km

Pulses per KM is set via Code Index (along with other config).

225/55/16 uses a different setting to all other standard Omega sizes, and is adjustable via Tech2

I wouldnt have thought that the wheel/tyre combination would matter if you have the correct rolling radius...

i.e - if you change from 45 section tyres to 40 section tyres, the rolling radius would be the same just the tyre width would be smaller and the wheel size would be bigger...

Never thought the wheel/tyre combination would effect the way the onboard computer would work if using the correct wheel/tyre combination...

Display and instrument panel are programmed for wheel size. Clearly the 225/55/16 size is too far away from the other sizes (for the vehicle manufacturer)...
