Title: MV6 Springs. freebies.
Post by: ted_one on 30 August 2014, 20:48:40
Not sure if any one will be interested but.....have just changed the shocks and springs for Eibachs and Bilsteins on my ex police 3.0Ltr MV6,mileage 74000 and it looks like every thing that's come off is in reasonable condition. There are some ID numbers and coloured paint markings on them and will give them a clean up tomorrow, and then if they are genuine items they may do someone a good turn and because they're free, then it's collection only and it will have to be sooner rather than later, otherwise they and a lot of Omega parts are off to the scrappy....not going to hoard stuff any more!! ::)

Are they from your Red DPG Ken, kinda guessing not as Im sure yours was a 3.2. In my experiance the Plod Springs arnt MV6 type, ie lowered, but standard GLS type but stronger duty.

Thanks Chris,
that's why I'm a bit iffy as to what they are,but will give them a proper look over this morning and post up a bit more info.....possibly they could be replacements as they seem to be in really good nick. :-\

Been and had a proper look....front springs which again are in pretty good fettle don't have any numbers that I can see,but they have three coloured dots on them...blue/white and a pink one a bit lower on the spring, shocks are GM.Rear springs just have a white code number LP230, shocks are GM.Not sure if any of the above is relevant, but I hope it helps :-\

Colour codes on springs and numbers on shocks are the only clues.

Do you know what the ride height was Ken? 675mm?

Though the  LP  spring was  FL  Elite. (as in Elite with air suspension)  Not  ever seen a number by it though :-\ :-\

Did'nt think to measure as they were coming off and being chucked out,I thought the car certainly sat lower than the red 3.2.The only other thing that I've just done is to measure the height of the springs, they are approx 280mm.Probably not much help I expect ::)
