Was that engine used in the tardy 2 litre Omega?
-
Nope, the Cav Sri 8V had the 130bhp C20NE engine which did not meet emissions post 1993 ish so there was another variant, the X20SE with circa 118bhp which was used in the Omega
-
I remember that they (pre engine change) went like stink and had a pretty good chassis.
If only I could justify another project car ::)
-
Think i need to rent a lock up for more projects ;D THat would be a bit costly to restore
though needing a full respray

I remember in 1986 I briefly had a 1 year old company 1.8 SRi hatchback.
It was like a rocket on rails at 130 mph, and just was a pleasure to drive. The company then decided that I should have a brand new Carlton 2.0 GL, which was good but so boring after the SRi!! :D :D :D ;)

Far too quick for a 'mere woman'. ;D ;D
Surely they could have sourced you a Hillman Imp or a sedate old Humber, Lizzie.
Far more fitting for someone of the female gender. :)

Sadly, the Carlton had the more sedate 2.0 engine and not the full cream 130bhp

Yes, I found that out a number of times Mark. I remember thinking I wish I had a 3 litre Carlton, or even better a 3.0GSi / Lotus as I was out accelerated by those said vehicles and almost everything else!! ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;)

I had a 1991 2.0 8v GLI. One of the fastest 2.0 I've ever driven :y
I used to thrash it within an inch of its life, poor thing ;D
I remember it used to be able to do nearly 90 in third gear(red lining of course) :)

An accolade matched by a 1.8 Mundeo hire car a mate and I ragged up to Scotland and back 16 years ago... ::)
It must be part of the design brief for any self respecting rep mobile ;D

These were outwardly very similar to the Humber Hawk, which I drove when very young!! My future father in law owned that one, until I busted it, but always wanted a Super Snipe. Instead after the Hawk he bought a 1962 Austin Westminster and it was a fabulous drive! :y :y :y
