Title: And the worst tailgaters are . . .
Post by: Rog on 05 September 2014, 09:54:15
I recently had to go somewhere as a passenger in a colleagues car. It was terrifying how close he always was from the car in front. Next time, I drive

However, I think that tailgating is being actively encouraged by the government, as a solution for the overcrowding on our road. Just pack the cars closer together to make more space !

Top 10 spots for tailgating on motorways in England

1. M1 at A1M to J47 southbound, Leeds
2. M42 J6-7 northbound, Solihull
3. M1 inside J1 northbound, Brent Cross
4. A1M J51-50 southbound, Leeming, North Yorkshire
5. M27 J7-5 westbound, Southampton
6. M42 J6-5 southbound, Solihull
7. M42 J4-3A southbound Solihull/Redditch
8. M42 J7-6 southbound, NEC Birmingham
9. A627M between start and J1 northbound, Oldham/Rochdale
10. M11 inside J9 northbound, Bishops Stortford/Cambridge

Active traffic management for you, slow everything down to a crawl as there's a junction ahead and we're trying to prepare you for it, do you think you can make it onto the slip road / M6 Interchange at 20MPH sir / madam or shall we slow four lanes of traffic a little more.... PS. the other reason why we may need to slow you down on the M42 is because a leaf blew across the carriageway on the M8 in Scotland.

..and yet another reason is that we're preparing you to be voluntarily lubed up and shafted at the M6 toll entrance despite the fact that the M6 is quite clear. ::)

Oh yes, the signs on the southbound M6 - 'M6 Delays, M6 Toll Clear'...... Which at the right time is a blatant lie, it's only certain times when the M6 J10 S/B is a carpark...

I also like the way that the M6 Toll / M42 N/B intersection is designed so that should you wish to carry on North up the M42 / A42 you actually have to leave the M42 to rejoin it.... I wonder how many people have ended up trapped into going N/B on the M6 Toll having to pay to be able to turn round?

Yes, got persuaded into using the M6 toll last week because Mrs. KW "likes the services" on it.  ::)

Said services were absolutely rammed with coachload after coachload of OAPs to the point that we strapped back into the Westfield and carried on - and I normally relish any type of break after doing a whole tank of petrol in that car.

So, it's such a success that they're clearly giving coachdrivers kick-backs to take hoards of blue-rinsers there.

On the way back, "normal" M6. Completely clear.
