got chance of a 2002 2.2 cdx dti.....but the fuel pump has gone....what are my options regarding fuel pumps....will any others fit...like off a Vectra or zafira....the cars only costing me 150 so looks like a bargain(at the min)to me....
-
Isn't it a case of getting the track on the ecu pcb resolvers to have it working properly? Sure that's all these dead fuel pumps come down to? :-\
-
no Idea...not really clued up on diesel engines...im hoping its something cheaper than sourcing a new pump and also paying for it
-
I am sure that these are now alot cheaper to refurbished than they were many moons ago when such cars just got scrapped. It has to be worth getting. Is it just an assumption of dead pump?
-
I presume so...ive not had a chance to have a good look at the car.....ive just been told pump is goosed....

New FIP is around £1400 for the part. If its the electronics that's failed, they can often (but not always) be refurbed for £300ish, but removal of the module is tricky.
-
Even it if it electronic, if its been cranked without fuel (thought to be frequent cause of electronic fault) , there is chance of extreme mechanical wear in FIP.

so screwed either way lol

Knowledge is power. Best case is £300ish if you can remove and refit electronic module yourself. £1400 plus fitting is worse case.
Armed with worst case, you can negotiate ;)
