Title: multiple faults
Post by: moomintroll on 18 September 2014, 18:56:57
Had my omega 6 week and so far had to replace front wishbones track rods brackets discs and pads.
Now rear wheel bearing has developed a drone and exhaust is blowing. Oh and while engine is on the overrun the auto box cuts drive and revs shoot up for about 7seconds. Starting to think I'd have been better off going for the volvo v70

Presumably you had a decent test drive in this before buying it? Or was it bought blind via heebay/similar?

Things like the discs and pads being fine when you bought it, but completely kaput 6 weeks later is rather odd for sure.

RW bearings are pretty easy and cheap to swap if you remove the hub and take it to workshop to press old bearing out and new one in (charged me ~20£ when I took my father's fiat punto's front hub to workshop to get the same job done). As for the GB issue, change the atf as first aid, if that doesn't do the trick it might be the overdrive solenoid acting up..

Just check that it isn't a tyre making the droning. I had similar, bought the hub but then I had to get new tyre due to a puncture droning went after tyre fitted..

Thanks Temetsy will do that. Tried swapping the tyre and still the same.it's hard to pick up on every little thing and noise when you test a new car and I usually got a sixth sense for these things
