OK, so he sold a few records. But how does that give him the right to try and lecture us about our eating habits? >:(
"Sir Paul urges 'meat-free Mondays'
Press Association: 26 minutes ago
Sir Paul McCartney has called on Britons to adopt "meat-free Mondays" to cut carbon emissions.
The former Beatle said cutting out meat one day a week was popular in Australia, where shoppers had become conscious of the environmental impact of cattle rearing and meat production.
In an interview with trade magazine The Grocer, Sir Paul called on UK consumers to cut down on meat consumption even if they could not give it up altogether."
Oh, is it Monday? I'm off to have a bacon butty. :y

Burgers tonight :y

That's goven me an idea.
I need to implement is 'meat tax' so as to discourage people from eating it - thereby reducing the country's carbon footprint.
It might knock the arse out of the cattle trade - but I don't care. I did the same with the used car market when i raised road fund licence but I don't give a monkeys. I have a fat pension, claim huge expenses and get paid handsomely come what may, so I'm alright, thank you.
And with the extra income, I can hand it back to people who are job shy, don't work and are on the poverty line. They can't afford to feed or clothe their children - but manage to juggle their cash so as to afford Sky TV, Special Brew and cigarettes........
Yes, I'm a socialist who raises taxes and blows the money. But you lot voted me in so who else can you blame.
Ooooops, I forgot, no-one voted me in did they? Never mind! :P
-
It seem like a "trendy" thing to do these days for celebrities to jump on the green/environmental issues bandwagon. Sir Paul's previous wife Linda was quite heavily into these kind of issues so perhaps he feels the need to continue where she left off. :-/

Trying to recoup some ackers through linda now heather fleaced him for a few quid!! Roast beef for me... with a side salad of meat :y
-
As someone who has really cut down on meat through diet to loose some weight, I feel he should keep his trap shut. It is not for him or anyone to dictate what we eat. At the end of the day mother nature decided what we eat, not him and certainly not the government.
Just for that I will eat meat tonight.
Mike

I don't think that an article in "The Grocer" is trying to dictate anything !!
It is not the most highly distributed/well read magazine in the world ... and we all know how magazine "interviews" are selectively printed and even more selectively quoted.
However if folks want to jump on a "lets have a go at Paul McCartney" bandwagon .. its entirely up to them ... I wouldn't dream if telling folks how to think ....... ;) ;)
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hmm. Barbecue tonight?
I'm sure I can find a picnic spot somewhere upwind of Macca's house.
If I knew which house he'd be in, of course. ::) And I suppose it's Ok for celebrities to jet between their various abodes, because that emits no CO2 at all, whilst the great unwashed can't eat a bit of cow in case it farted in a previous life? >:(

I've got a better idea. Let me LPG your Omega for you. Now, let's see. Output of vapouriser into the passenger compartment. When the vapouriser gets to a certain temperature the tank valve opens and... Ahh, yes, remembering to connect it to the central locking... and the fag lighter... Kaboom! :o Oops :-[

I find that meat eaters are more tolerant of vegetarians than the other way round.
Macca should not try and inflict his way of life onto us.

thats the problem, we live in a world where people think they can tell us what to do, what we can eat, smoke, drink, and so on, by people who have nothing better to do than moan, and people who get paid to tell us things we already know >:( >:( >:(

Olive oil is healthier and does tend to run off anyway.
-
Dont like it. Mind you... at 24st 10lb I would probably benefit from getting to like it :y
