Title: Omega v6 cam sensor - failure?
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 24 September 2014, 01:17:25
I will post in full tomorrow but

I've just bought a 2.6 with known issues just for a play around as it was very cheap.

The symptom was eml on and cutting out

I thought crank sensor and even took a spare to collect

The car was cutting out all over the shop. Not drivable

Codes read, and apart from cat efficiency codes, there were 2 p0340 codes for cam sensor circuit

Unplugged cam sensor. Cutting out totally stopped. Revs limit to 4k. But after a while driving with it unplugged, it drives throughout the range

Anyone seen this before? Ta :y

Should say, plugged sensor back in, and within minutes was cutting out again

Its probably got damaged wiring or not been fitted correctly so inspect closely.

Yep James had cutting out on our 2.6V6 - under warranty dealer fitted new crank sensor but did not cure.  Symptoms like your's but no eml light on, would fire up immediately after a stall.  Dealer fitted new cam sensor (again under warranty) - problem cured and no further issues (touch wood!!) - HTH  :y

Strangely there's more reports of V6 Cam sensor failure on the Vectra B forums than anywhere else. Very rare on Omega.
