Hi guys,
A friend is looking at buying this car for about £200. It needs tax and MOT but that price is great cos it's apparently (will verify this for them of course) a great runner.

There's a bunch of rust on both rear wheel arches but not really concerned as its not a keeper....just a good runner for a couple of years.
When I put the reg. in to Europarts it comes up with ''2002 Ford Fiesta - NaN'' WTF is nan? lol presuming naturally aspirated _ _ _ _ _ ???
If I'm right in thinking theseare pushrods?
Anything to be aware of or to look out for on these?
Cheers guys :)

What engine?
Check rear bushes, brake lines, petrol tank, rust on rear arches common problem, but may be worse than it looks.

Front fogs suggests it may be higher up the model range.
Possible Zetec.

The fact that it doesnt have a griffin on the badge is a start :y
My old neighbour had one. A 1.25 zetec and it was a little pocket rocket :o

oh and 134k on't clock and cambelt done at 75k.... thinking ford intervals are 100; or 10 years.... :-\

80k or 5 years, which ever is sooner, also change waterpump

Rust in the rear arches/sills/floorpans(it's based on a very old Fiesta body), fuel pumps fail(cheap, but you have to drop the tank) and the front wishbones are everyother MOT(but they're £30 a pair and an hour's work).
A nice one is probably the best cheap small car you can get.

Oh lordy, lordy, lordy... ::)

If it had mot would just run it int ground , shove it through mot first before and see what needs doing if you can :-\

Bought one of these for my son 5 or 6 years ago with 70,000 on the clock 1 owner with full history sold it in April as he now has a Peugeot, he never checked anything on it and it just ran & ran, I did the cursory checks on it when I could, once the oil did not even register on the dipstick & it still kept going Front springs go but are reasonable to replace & rust on the rear shocks mounting can be akward to repair (had these done when it failed mot) easy & cheap little runaround, we sold it on the bay & it made a decent price around £400.00 it had covered almost 180,000 miles.

As said rot is the enemy, scrapped the mother in laws one recently as it was like a teabag. We have an 04 we have had from new and it's bulletproof( bar a clutch at 85k)

Biggest problem is its a Fix Or Repair Daily ;D ;D ;D

Rot is there main enemy, they rot like cars of old, mechanically pretty robust.

Yes, mechanics are pretty average but the tin worm is a real issue.
