Title: Poor quality or poor memory?

During the course of my work I come into close contact with many varied vehicles of all sorts of ages,and I have noticed that either materials/fittings in some are apparently getting worse.In the new shape Micra I have seen all too many with the drivers carpet worn through to the flooring with anything from 6 to 9,000miles on the clock!Another one I seem to be seeing more of is cars fitted with keep fit[as opposed to electric]windows in the rear doors appear to suffer with the window dropping just fractionally,the worst culprit for this ime is the present Fiesta and the previous two versions,although others are beginning to show these signs also.So is it poorer quality/cheaper/flimsier materials that are being used?Or is it just my failing memory whereby I don't remember these things happening in days past?

Personally I think we should be wary of anything built in the days of austerity. From tyres to cars, to pc's and washing machines.

Everyone was tightening belts to the limit, and it shows.

So you've never moved the window winder around on its splines so that the weight holds it up? Or fitted 'new' teeth to a window-winder mech with a welder and a file?

Having spent a couple of months building new Range Rovers's it's surprising how flimsy some of the components are :o

I think the parts are manufactured to a tolerance of warranty period + 1 hour.
