What work is likely needed for the MoT :-\

Would politely suggest that it's worth what you could weigh it in for as a non runner with short ticket... Not to say that it should be scrapped. Far from it... sounds like an ideal project for someone wanting some cheap wheels :y

last years advisories included rust on the rear chassis, however having looked at it on the ramps I personally couldn't see any more rust than light discolouration it will want bushes/ wishbones and a very definite general tidy up as somebody has used the wrong colour spray can in places. the engine works on the Vauxhall total loss theory, whereby you pour it in the top and it disappears into nowhere, there are various oil leaks but none that reach the ground ! minor rust bubble around the rear wiper stalk but other than that I cant think of any more. it did not drive handle well, it tramlined quite well, picking up anominalies in the road surface ! the cd cassette is missing and has been since we got it and I think the air con compressor is u/s as there's been no air con for some time. I agree that its a shame to weigh it in and think if somebody had time, patience, funds and space it could be brought back from the dead so to speak !

it is, however I can't shift the locking ring despite the gentle art of subtle persuasion (hammer and cold chisel) ! I think the only way to move it will be to drill holes around the top of the ring and put some easing fluid in them and leave it for a day or so to soak around the thread in the hope that works, failing that it would be a cut off job and replace !

Cutting it of will almost certainly mean a new tank, as once the thread is damaged it won't seal properly...

unfortunately a large pair of almost anything is beyond my reach these days, least of a pair of grips marketed by a certain American organisation  ! but I did try and ask it rather nicely to move with a 2lb hammer and chisel !!
