Title: Oil
Post by: Sir Tigger KC on 10 October 2014, 12:08:44
The price of Crude Oil has fallen about 20% since June.  It would have been nice if the price of fuel at the pumps had fallen proportionality!  ::)  >:(

Steve, you are living in cloud cuckoo land, mate ;D :y

Ironically, petrol round here has fallen...we are currently on 1.24/1.25 per litre. Supermarkets may be a bit cheaper. :y

We have just come back from a month in Wareham, and I admit, petrol round that area was around the 1.30 per litre mark. :(

The costs of refining and transporting it haven't gone down though, so stop moaning  :P
A 'man in the know' said on Bloomberg yesterday that it may drop to $70 a barrel, and that the price at the pumps could drop as low as $2.60..........a gallon!
But not for us, of course. Mr Osbourne needs our fuel tax to keep our world class NHS running smoothly. Ha f*****g ha. :-X

Actually, Esso seems to be the better deal. They seem to always be a bit cheaper, plus swmbo likes them as she gets clubcard points.
That Esso station on the A31 at Wimborne, next to the Little Chef, is always about 5p cheaper than anywhere else. ???

ASDA £1.24.7 for unleaded here. Supermarket fuel, of course. Only suitable for ordinary cars, not omegas.

Petrol used to cost nothing when I was a lad....... especially when I 'borrowed' it from Mr Johnson's Austin 1100 next door. :)

Forget the old 5 star petrol. The Omega is such an athlete it requires 6 star petrol. ;)

It seems to go up quickly whatever the country, I am always pleasantly surprised how quickly it drops here in Spain. Probably a government control. Britain definitely is tardy when it comes to lowering. A day , a week? It soon adds up to millions more profit and millions moretax for the treasury. win win lose

As an aside, the best day to buy fuel in Spain is a Monday. That coincidentally is the day that prices are officially monitored!

LPG is not a bad idea if somebody else paid for the conversion..... :y

Local garage has a LPG'd Renault Vel Satis on an 02 plate for £995.

It looks OK and being french it will be totally fault free and reliable. :)

The vel satis is an ugly old bus, yet strangely attractive. Ahead of it's time, apparently. I'd have one, if only for the novelty value, and at a "throwaway" £995.....
