Title: 0.24 amps current

Hello

Just changed battery as it died after six years (Bosch). All OK, charging more than 14V. During this repair I wanted to check how much current is consumed while car is parked. I closed the doors but did not lock them, put amp. meter between battery minus and minus cable and found that there is after 15 seconds about 0.24A current. It did not change within a couple of minutes. The value seems quite high for me. Is this normal? Just think that about in 4 hours 1Ah is used, 6Ah in a day and night. After ten days 60Ah.

Any experience about this, strange!

Dont forget some items are still active for about 15 mins after last door is closed

Yes, that is a bit high. Around 80mA would be more typical, but it varies with spec.

Yes, the accessory delay relay takes 10-15 minutes. Plug something into the rear lighter socket or leave the interior light on and wait until it's turned off. :y

You can pull fuses 'til the amps drop and you've found the affected circuit :)

Thanks for all comments, I do the 15 minutes test first and then start to pull off fuses if I am remarkably over 80 mA. Keep you informed.

OK, now some official results:

I put charger without telephone to rear lighter socket to see red led when there is current, then amp. meter between battery minus and minus cable, double locked doors with remote so all alarms went on. After 10 seconds current stabilized to something 0.25A. After about six minutes I heard the "click", charger led did not lid anymore, current dropped to about 0.014A, yes 14mA, Good. My meter is yellow and nice but not FLUKE, perhaps worth 10 Euro. However, I believe that there is a remarkable drop of current after this six minutes period and thus all should be okay.

My meter cost £1.89  ;D

I usually grab a ground and lick the "+". Not very accurate but better than (http://www.advrider.com/forums/image.php?u=316&dateline=1000105293).  :D
