Where can I buy them? Looking about 50cm high, silver/stainless effect, speaker is a very lightweight surround speaker. Everywhere I've looked online seem to want silly prices for something quite tatty looking...

I wish I had known two weeks ago that you needed such a thing TB.
I replaced my JVC surround system with a Panasonic sound bar set up and threw all the equipment, including the speaker stands into the recycling depot! ::) : ::)

Good point, there is a recycling centre a few miles from here :y

Proper speakers reach the floor so they don't need stands. ;)
But.. I often see old stands in antique / 2nd hand shops. Many are black, but a can of paint will soon sort that out. Will keep an eye out. :y

Ive got a couple you could have, tho not that tall iirc....few inches off the ground, the speakers just sit on the stands tilted back....aluminium...

These are poxy small speakers, phoney crap :o
After something to lift them about 18-24"...

Wall mounting not suitable?

Rather wouldn't. They have been sat on the floor for the past 10yrs, I just thought I should get around to getting stands ;D
-
Surround speakers should be ok on the wall, big softy. ;D

10 years? Perhaps you should consider putting them on mats rather than stands?

Car boot sale is the only option IMO . . . send Mrs TB to search them out
while you tinker with the silver bullet at home ;D ;D ;D

Are they the oval type (two small speakers per unit) that has two screws on the rear off them for bracket mounting?

The fony speaker stands i have (somewhere) for my surround sound (came with four, i only used two of them) are not going to fit then....

wall mounting is easier. I remember back in the day forking out silly money on stands and lead shot to fill them :'(
they were cheapish, only cost £100 in 1980 something l ;D ;D ;D
